Sadhu Boards: Choosing the Right Level of Challenge
Standing on nails is an ancient mindfulness and concentration practice that helps you connect with your body, develop focus, and work with inner sensations. The key is to start gradually and choose the right nail spacing for your comfort and experience level.
🔹 For Beginners – 8 mm (≈ 0.31 inch)
If you’re new to Sadhu practice or don’t engage in regular physical activity, we recommend starting with 8 mm (≈ 0.31 inch) spacing.
For people who are not very active, the sensations can be stronger at first because blood circulation in the feet is often less active.
Once you step on the board, blood flow increases quickly, and you’ll start feeling a warm, tingling, and slightly painful sensation that soon becomes pleasant and releasing.
Even standing for 30 seconds to 1 minute on 8 mm (≈ 0.31 inch) is a great start for beginners.
🔹 For Active People and Athletes – 10 mm (≈ 0.39 inch)
If you regularly exercise or lead an active lifestyle, you can begin with 10 mm (≈ 0.39 inch) spacing.
This option feels slightly softer, but it requires more balance and awareness. Since your body is already adapted to physical activity, 8 mm (≈ 0.31 inch) might feel too easy and won’t provide the full experience.
With 10 mm (≈ 0.39 inch) spacing, mild pain or pressure sensations usually appear after about a minute — this is a normal and healthy part of the adaptation process.
⚖️ The Most Important Rule – Listen to Your Body
There’s no need to stand for a long time right away. Start with 30 seconds to 1 minute, and gradually increase your practice time as your body adjusts.
Standing on a Sadhu Board is not a competition — it’s a personal journey of awareness, relaxation, and self-discovery.
