Before You Buy a Sadhu Board: 8 Things to Check

Most Sadhu boards look alike in photos, but they can feel completely different under your feet. Use this checklist before you buy, whichever brand you choose.

1. Nail spacing

Spacing decides how intense the board feels. Closer nails spread your weight across more points.

  • 8 mm — the gentlest, best for most first-timers
  • 10 mm — the most popular all-rounder
  • 12 mm — the most intense, for experienced practitioners

More detail: how to choose a Sadhu board.

2. Nail finish and height

Look closely at product photos and reviews. Nails should be smooth, without burrs, and set at exactly the same height. Uneven nails create sharp hot spots instead of even pressure.

3. Nail material

Aluminum is light and keeps its silver color. Copper has a warm golden look and develops a patina over time. Both work for the practice. Compare them here.

4. Nail pattern

A hexagon (Flower of Life) pattern keeps every nail the same distance from its neighbours, so pressure is even across the whole foot. All Tengry boards use it.

5. Board size and foot size

Check the maximum foot size before you buy. Your whole foot should rest on nails, not on the edge of the board. Tengry boards are about 32 cm (12.6 in) long and fit feet up to US men's 12–13, depending on the model.

6. Weight and portability

If you want to take the board to the office, a retreat or on holiday, weight matters. Our aluminum 10 mm board weighs about 575 g (1.3 lb); copper boards are heavier.

7. What comes in the box

A case protects the nails and your bag. Tengry boards come with a soft case, aroma sticks and a gift-ready box, which also makes them easy to give as a present.

8. Shipping and returns

Check delivery time and whether you can return or exchange the board if the spacing is wrong. Tengry ships free to the US mainland, Canada, Japan and Europe, delivers in 1–4 business days to the US, Canada, Germany and Japan, and accepts returns within 30 days.

A quick red-flag list

  • Product pages that promise to cure illnesses
  • No information about spacing or foot size
  • Photos that never show the nails up close
  • No return policy

FAQ

What is the best Sadhu board for beginners?

An 8 mm board for a gentle start, or 10 mm if you are fairly sure you will practise regularly.

What size Sadhu board do I need?

One where your whole foot rests on the nails. Compare the maximum foot size with your shoe size.

Is a solid-wood board better than plywood?

Solid wood is heavier and more expensive. Good plywood is lighter and stable. The nails and spacing matter more than the base.
